As most houseboaters know, conventional house construction comes to its limits when building in maritime areas. That fact alone does plenty to drive up interest in the liveaboard lifestyle of houseboating, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Capitalizing on this growing interest is the Aqua House—an uncompromisingly maritime alternative to conventional housing. The vicinity to water and nature is taken into account in the interior design. The whole inner area is covered with teakwood floors. Spacious terraces in all Aqua House types invite to stay. When planning the Aqua houses the focus is on environmental care. The aim was to find a reasonable balance bet-ween longevity, economy and ecological materials. The input of unscented resins and natural material, e.g. jute, are a functional symbiosis for the environmental compatibility of Aqua Houses.
The excellent insulation (German insulation factor: 0.28) in combination with the modern heat pump saves a great amount of energy. Yet the heat pump does not need external energy input. The electrical consumption is comparable with that of an average refrigerator. The completely biological purification unit saves water and its discharge parameters are those of industrial water. All sandwich plates used in Aqua Houses are unscented and chemically neutral after having matured. All varnishes and painting substances used under and above the waterline have been chosen with regard to environmental compatibility. The woods for decks and internal construction all come from controlled forestry.
