Early October 2007 marked a new beginning for Gibson Boats. Its new plant was officially opened for business in Portland, Tenn. The previous year was a bit rough for the veteran houseboat manufacturer as an F3 tornado destroyed the previous facility in early April `06. The natural disaster caused millions in damages throughout the local area but despite the destruction, general manager, William C. Brummett III vowed to rebuild a new facility.

The work on its new facility was completed and doors opened on October 4th to Gibson family and friends from across the country for a weekend of celebration. At 50,000 square feet, the newest facility is half the size of the older plant but the Gibson team is back to work and learning to maximize efficiency in its new home with a renewed commitment to providing the best quality product.

While whispers of rumors were heard throughout the industry that Gibson may be closed for good, the rumors are now officially dispelled at its business as usual for this Tennessee builder. Gibson boats are available through a network of dealers. Visit them online at: www.gibsonboats.com or call and schedule a tour of their new plant; 615-325-9320.
