Discover Boating announces sweepstakes winner

CHICAGO - Cassidy Walch from Hot Springs, Ark., was recently announced the winner of Discover Boating's Making Waves sweepstakes, according to a release from the National Marine Manufacturer's Association. Walch was randomly selected from the contest's nearly 30,000 registrants to be awarded $25,000 toward the purchase of a new NMMA Certified Boat.
The sweepstakes was held as part of the launch of Discover Boat's Facebook game application titled "Making Waves," designed to put at-home water sports enthusiasts in the virtual captain's seat to experience the boating lifestyle.
"Our Making Waves sweepstakes was a way for Discover Boating to draw attention to the passion boaters and non-boaters have for being on the water, building awareness for Discover Boating in the process," Carl Blackwell, chief marketing officer for Discover Boating and the NMMA, said in a press release. "We received an unprecedented amount of activity on the Discover Boating Facebook fan page with everyone engaging on the page in real-time, building momentum for the sweepstakes and ultimately helping to grow our fan base to nearly 40,000. By bringing a new boater to the water, we see this as a win for the industry as well as Mrs. Welch and her family."
Welch was not a boat owner prior to winning the Making Waves sweepstakes.
