Perko urges builders to file emissions waiver

February 2011 News Trade Only Today

New EPA evaporative emissions standards will take effect July 31 and Perko is urging boatbuilders that qualify for the small-business exemption to file for a waiver now.

The waiver is written into the regulations and gives companies of 500 employees or less the ability to build as many as 1,200 boats in one year that are not in compliance.

Waivers are not automatically given. Builders must file for them.

A sample waiver letter and directions about how to submit a waiver can be found on Perko's website.
