Rising waters in the Murray have now flooded about 100 shacks at Morgan in the Riverland, but there is a silver lining for the region.

While some people have been concerned the rising river is scaring away tourists, one local Heather Pinnington points out it is attracting some too.

"Houseboat owners report to me they're receiving a lot of inquiries from interstate. They've got a lot of bookings in March/April now," she said.

Kelvin Goldstone from the Mid-Murray Council says up to 300 shacks are expected to go under when the river reaches its peak in the next day or two.

"Our main focus at the moment is to keep most of the wastewater treatment plants operable and to keep them going for as long as we can," he said.

A flood watch for the Murray has now been lifted from the Victorian border to Overland Corner near Barmera.

The Water Department says a flood watch remains for areas below Lock 3.
