Yamaha's U.S. marine officials said that a production delay in Japan shouldn't cause a disruption in its supply channel.
"With the suspension of production through April 1, the Yamaha U.S. marine team will need to evaluate the impact of deliveries planned from May to June," the company said in a statement.
"Normally, a production delay of two weeks does not cause a major disruption in Yamaha's supply channel and the losses can be absorbed by closely managing the logistics process and allocating product to meet customers' most immediate needs," the company added.
Yamaha's headquarters in Japan said today that production will be suspended at its outboard motor facility and personal watercraft facility through the end of next week.
Yamaha continues to work on verification of vendor supply and logistics recovery.
"We appreciate the kindness our dealers and boatbuilder partners have shown in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan," Yamaha officials said in a statement. "We also understand the concerns our partners may have and we continue to monitor the status of our factories."
