Delta boaters cautioned after houseboat runs aground

April 2011 News Robert Salonga - Contra Costa Times

Boaters in the Delta should be wary about a hazard in the form of a houseboat stuck in the water, the Coast Guard said.

The houseboat was on its way to Herman and Helen's Marina from Sacramento when it ran aground early Sunday near Webb Tract, north of Bethel Island. The owner hired a commercial vessel to tow the stranded houseboat and the tug boat that had been pulling it, when the semi-floating home broke free and drifted down the San Joaquin River before getting stuck again.

While the houseboat is not in the channel, the Coast Guard is warning boaters to watch out for the hazard.
