Houseboat magazine recently earned the 2011 Award Of Excellence in the Feature Writing category from Apex Awards. The article, "Just Blow'n Steam," by Editor Brady L. Kay was announced in the 23rd annual awards program that recognizes excellence in publications work by professional communicators. The cover feature on Dr. David and Tracy Ison's Horizon houseboat, that includes a unique old brass steam whistle onboard, originally ran in the February/March 2011 issue of Houseboat magazine.

Over 3,300 entries for the 11 major categories were received.
