1. Dream Job
I’ve always dabbled in art, but since my retirement from the nursing profession about eight years ago, I’ve had the luxury of spending more time painting. My dream was to retire and have a boat and spend time painting. I am very fortunate to have been able to reach that dream.
2. Houseboat studio
The advantage to pursuing my hobby on the houseboat is that I am surrounded by the subjects I love to paint. And, since my husband John and I spend much of our time at the lake, I am able to fill the hours in my little studio on the boat. We have included a space for me to do this on both of the houseboats that we’ve built.
My biggest supporters would be my kids, Nadine and Greg and their spouses, and of course, John who is also my best critic. My friends at the lake seem to appreciate what I do and are some of my best patrons. I have donated paintings to be auctioned at the annual Crusin’ for the Cure breast cancer fundraiser each year as well. I would welcome inquiries about commissions, especially the subjects indigenous to the lake area. My favorite subjects are seascapes and landscapes. I often work from photos, especially those taken by my son and daughter.
