The Ladies of the Lake are at it again and ready for the sixth annual Cruisin' for the Cure event to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and breast cancer research. The 2012 cruise will be held Saturday, June 23 at State Dock on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky and the limited spots for this houseboat cruise are quickly filling up.

In the past, many great people have generously donated to this cause to make it possible and one service in particular has received a lot of bidding attention at the annual auction. Professional chef Kathy Ballard has generously donated a dinner for eight on top of her Horizon houseboat for this benefit on numerous occasions. But this is not just any dinner. It could be considered one of those bucket list kind of events. Her dinner at the last charity auction went for $2,000, which may have been a bargain for those with the winning bid.

Each of the eight courses being served is paired up with selected wines, specifically chosen to enhance the meal fit for royalty. The top deck ambiance alone from these dinners that included men in tuxedos and a full staff to help complement the chef's finest, is enough to keep people bidding. Preparing this one-of-a-kind meal with help from friends like Jeanie Durbin is not a small task for Ballard, but it a service she generously provides to help fight this important cause.

Details about what services will be available for the 2012 cruise are still being worked out, but contact Linda Gilker at LindaGilker@windsream.net or Joy Dyson at JRDyson51@gmail.com for more information. You call also visit www.ladiesofthelakeky.com for updates as this event gets closer.
