Plans are underway for the Holly's House Boat Parade and Party in conjunction with the 2012 ShrinersFest.  This is event is a fundraiser for Holly's House, a local not-for-profit agency providing services for victims of child abuse, sexual assault and domestic violence.

The Boat Parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 9.  Boat owners are encouraged to decorate their boats around the theme of "Pirates of the Caribbean" and enter the parade which originates near the LST and passes by Evansville's Dress Plaza.  The cost to enter a vessel in the parade is $30 for entries received before May 15, 2012.  The parade is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.   Each boat captain will receive a commemorative event t-shirt designed by Cedric Hustace and a photograph of their vessel in the parade.  In addition, prizes will be awarded for Best Overall, Best Use of Theme, Judge's Choice and People's Choice.  Parade registration forms are available on the Holly's House web-site ( www.hollyshouse.org) or by calling Holly's House at 437-7233.

Holly's House will also be hosting a VIP viewing party for the Parade.  On June 9 the Evansville Dress Plaza will be converted to "Port Royale".  Tickets to the viewing party are $30, which includes entry to the Dress Plaza for the best view of both the ShrinersFest Airshow (12:30 pm to 3:00 pm) and the Holly's House Boat Parade (3:00 pm to 7:00 pm) and a ShrinersFest button for admission to all 2012 ShrinersFest activities.  Food, beverages, entertainment and door prizes will be available along with an opportunity to participate in voting for the People's Choice award.

Proceeds from this unique and fun event will support Holly's House services for victims of intimate crime in southwest Indiana.  Since opening in the fall of 2008, Holly's House has provided support for over 1,300 victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.  In addition, the agency's child abuse prevention program, "Think First & Stay Safe", has been presented to over 4,300 elementary school children.
