We have seen this beauty floating around Facebook lately and we thought it would make a great tip to pass on to you, the reader. Coffee tables can be tricky on the houseboat, especially if they take up a lot of room. This sample is rather large but because it doesn't cost much, you could try it out and see if it works for your setup.

This easy do-it-yourself project involves four apple or wine crates that are stained to the color of your choice. Most craft or home improvement stores have crates of this nature in stock. Once they are stained, simply attach them to a wood base and you have a light-weight coffee table ready to go.

The picture includes wheels on the base. For houseboats that are moored in areas of heavy water traffic and are prone to movement, you may want to leave the wheels off.
