Our friends in Australia are taking safety seriously this coming holiday season, according to Sunshine Coast Daily—and their plans involve simulating a houseboat fire and explosion on the Noosa River.
The big training exercise in the Queensland, Australia area included how to help multiple casualties that could occur from an accident like the simulation. The Fire and Emergency Services Department reportedly described the “Operation Sandfly 2015” exercise as “timely training ahead of the busy Christmas period,” and involved representatives of the Maritime Safety Queensland, Surf Life Saving Queensland, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, and the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard.
