Crazy how low the water was.

That is impressive, to a Non-Land Locked Boater as I am.
I have always thought that California should build huge salt water intakes from the ocean tidal waters
Run it through a desalination process, and pump into the lakes etc...

I have also thought that the USA should run a water pipe across the States from one Coast to another, much like the Alaskan Pipe Line, and have the ability to solve any drought problem in the USA.

From where to where? The Great lakes come to mind as a supply but have been at low levels for years. Moves have been proposed to shut off the Chicago canal to reduce out flow.

What would you suggest as a source that has a surplus?

The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, which is why it would need to be ran through a desalination process

By the time they could pass the permits, surveys, EPA, etc. the damn thing would be melted.
