On Barkley lake, in western Ky, we are having a problem with an algae growth on aluminum pontoons. What would be the best paint for this problem. Up to this year, it was never a problem. The water temp has been in the upper 80s with a very low flow in this dry year. Thanks for any help.

Always been a big fan of Trinidad SR on our sailboats.. We did 3 coats on our Gibson.. we'll see how long it lasts..

I cannot recommend a specific product, but I know that there are some special requirements for bottom coating aluminum. Google "bottom coat aluminum" or "aluminum safe bottom paint".

We're lucky on the Colorado River. We don't have to worry about algae. The Quagga mussels cover the entire boat bottom and eat most of the algae! Anti-fouling paints work really well against quaggas. Fiberglass boats usually have few to none on them. The outdrive of a fiberglass boat gets covered with quaggas, while the boat bottom stays clean. Except for the algae! Sometimes you just can't win.
