    Tennessee River Springtime River Conditions

I'm planning on cruising again around first of April. Last year at that time, we were delayed for about 2 months near Mobile bay. The constant onslaught of spring rains and record breaking storms kept us from heading north. The logs and trash in the rivers were so bad, even tugs and oil field boats were laid up for long periods of time. I then learned from others that Springtime is not a good time for up river travel on the lower sections of Mobile Bay and northward to the Tenn-Tom.
My question now is: Should I delay my trip on the Tennessee River from NW Alabama to Knoxville, Tn. or are the river sections up here not as bad during April and early May?

Might wait unless there is a pressing need. The currents in narrow portions of the river rob you of a lot of speed and get into your wallet pretty heavily. How ever NOT nearly as bad as going the other way and points north. You will love the trip. Really pretty country. Truly God's Country for Houseboaters.
