for some: if you jump over the gate, you wont ware out the hinge, my brother always reminded me of that saying when I cried about cost, as he would dig me.

That makes sense. We all have aspects that don't bother others but bug the heck out of us. Mine is carpeted and is very simple so it doesn't cause me any pain or trouble. To each their own I say and I'm glad you found the hinge you want. I agree with you on the cost issue. If it's really what you want, then it doesn't matter.
