    humming outlets

I have had some trouble with my gfci outlets humming, with operating on the inverter, anchored out.
If I trip out the outlets they quit, and when the generator is running they seem to be quiet. i even considered this might be a low power situation, but am not sure how to tell. Mostly I need to know if this is worth worrying about or not.
    thanks

You probably have a modified sine wave inverter. Some electronics do no like a modified sine wave and will hum. GFCI outlets may also trip differently with modified sine wave power. Some of the inverter manufacturers publish which GFCI outlets work best with their products. Here is Xantrex's list: http://www2.schneider-electric.com/r...s%20output.pdf
