Does anybody know much about Watercraft brand houseboats? I believe
they were built in Tennessee in the 70's. They have aluminum
hulls, not sure about cabin construction.
Thanks,
Ed

I looked at a 52' Watercraft last summer. Built in the early 70s, it had an aluminum hull, aluminim siding over plywood for cabin walls, and fiberglass over plywood roof. Alas, the roof had carpet glued over it, and was WAY soft.

LongJohn,
Where was the one you looked at? There is a 52' Wtaercraft in
Knoxville, TN we are considering. Haven't seen it yet, it is a 1975
model.
Thanks,
Ed

That's the one. Roof was soft enough that I was afraid to walk it; evidence in the aft cabin that it had leaked, strong smell of mold in the boat.

Thanks LongJohn, You saved me a trip to Knoxville. Just to make
sure it's the same boat, this one is white with red trim outside,
interior painted white. Sound the same to you?
Thanks for your help.

Seems right. I pretty much dismissed it after my wife (110 pounds) was afraid to walk the roof. I remember thinking that it would make a good project boat, because someone had spent a lot of money on interior appearence. But it wasn't priced like a project boat.
The details are just not in my head anymore. I'm sure that it was a Watercraft at the Knoxville Yacht Club; I'd be surprised if there were more than on in the area. The broker seemed like an upright guy. Ask him about the roof.
