As a brand new ownner of 18 year old James towner, what are the suggestions for
warning devices like smoke detector, etc.
has propane tanks, for stove and frig, & furnace, hotwater heater, has a few solar panels with a bank of 3 batteries which I assume the seller moved a few out prior to my purchase, and a 1500 watt converter. All of the items listed are extremly new as I have never even owned a camper or delt with converter's pilot lights, so u will see a lot of good newbie question the next 4 weeks im sure,

but to show my dedication I went to the boat today (on a bouy till next week )
and washed the entire outside cabin because a drizzel rain was happening to wash the soap off

First, Welcome to the Forum!!!

Smoke detector and Carbon Monoxide detectors I'd get at Big Box. Propane detector you'll probably have to get at an RV place if you can't find one online you like.

I'm guessing you have an INverter not a CONverter (they're different). The inverter allows you to run 115v appliances off your batteries; A converter is more like a battery charger.

If your fridge is propane the 3 batteries may be all you need; depending on the solar capacity and how many other appliances you're running off the inverter. Coffeepots and microwaves don't use that much in the grand scheme of things because they're not on for very long.

If you have an installed voltmeter or ammeter learn what it does and how to read it. Probably 1/3 of all the problems with boats are electrical, and it often comes down to batteries. Learning how to monitor them is essential.

Your right it is a box i hook to the batteries and run 110 ele. I used it on a small fan while we cleaned on it yesterday. The gentleman who sold me the boat has 3 solar pannels on top with little clue as to whats going on, (not being mean here), he hooks them to charge the batteries. so I need to make some dock friend quick, some seem eager to get me the advice and I even have confidence in one or 2
the frig I will keep on the propane and power cord once we get moved to the dock this week, thanks for the welcome.
