Deck is starting hairline cracks.  First estimate is to sand and gelcoat.  Will lose speckling look.  Any other reccomendations?

Add the speckling to the estimate and repair tasks.

Hey, is that like "wasted away" in Margaretville??

Yes, "Wasted Away" in Margaretville.  Called Gibson factory today and they said the same thing "sand and gelcoat".  Anybody use "Newglass2"?  Live in Knoxville, TN and nobody here knows jack about refinishining decks on Gibson.

If it isn't too bad, vee out cracks with a beer can opener (serious) and fill with matching gell coat. Tedious but doable.

Thanks OHB!! I have some deck seams in my WOOD deck that need opening up and recaulking, never thought a church key. It should do the job easily!

Ther goes OHB again coming up with a trick to solve an otherwise expensive problem. I had just smeared 5200 as a temporary fix but will put this new method on my list to do. Marinas down where I am will repaint those spatterpaint decks but it does not look as good as factory pattern. You may want to look at Durabak before going to the expense of gelcoat on an entire deck. I agree that gelcoat would be preferred but the cost is way high where I have priced it.
