My wife and I have been boating the 3 rivers of Pittsburgh PA for the last season in our 21ft Rinker cuddy cabin...We enjoy the boating but hate the lack of space, so this past weekend we purchased a 73 Gibson 30ft houseboat......We have started to repair it and basically "make it our own" ... I am sure I will have many questions, since the engine runs rough and it only goes into reverse......but its our floating river house for now....so........Hello...

Welcom! No dumb questions, just costly assumptions.
Here in Louisiana we call something that doesn't move under it's
own power a floating camp.

Welcome Aboard Daron
And welcome to the wonderful world of Houseboating, it is a fatal disease, which I love having.
And TED, welcome back to the forum, we thought you had visited the bottom of the Mississippi on your trip home.
Have you finished the book yet?

Banana Tom and everyone else is correct....I find myself planning vacation next summer around the houseboat......I am always searching the net about houseboating........Since I have so much to do to our boat, I an a little stumped about where to start......So I decided to start on the peeling roof.....It looks as if someone has used kool seal orsomething like it before, so, is that what I must stay with?????

Daron,
There are probably more posts about roofs, roof repair, roof replacement, etc in the maintenance forum than any other single topic. Try search, or simply start back page by page, there'll be roof info on nearly every page anyhow!
Best,
Bob

My wife and I are also new to houseboating.
We have purchased a 62 ' Somerset and live on an inland lake
in Texas. At some point we hope to head down to the IWC and
do some traveling.
