The tornado formed at Bahia Mar Marina on Bayou Chico, Pensacola, FL just as our vacationer was returning in our one of our houseboats. They had tied to the fuel dock, when the vacationers saw it form and head to them. They sought shelter in the lower stateroom. The tornado picked up the boat and slammed onto the fuel dock, it then bounced back into the water. The upper helm/fly bridge and front deck roof were dislodged and and landed in several different locations. The vacationers, from West Virgina were not hurt, but had a vacation to remember for all times.

I was informed and left my office, headed south on 9th avenue. As I approached the Cordova shopping center I spotted the tornado over the Target shopping center parking lot. Several cars were blown upside down and and at this hour in a pile. My car then slide sideways, from the left hand lane into the right hand and vast of amounts of debris were flying every which way. I gave it a bunch of gas and regained control. No impact occurred. I headed to the Marina to discover lots of damages to buildings and boats.

Now waiting on our boat adjuster.

Anybody have an upper helm for a Holiday Mansion??

Yikes, Tom-- that must have been a terrifying experience. Your poor customers! Sorry to hear of all the damage. I hope the insurance company treats you right. Is the other houseboat all right?

I spent some very happy years living a two-minute walk from Bayou Chico. It's changed a lot in the intervening decades, but so weird to see the videos of my old stomping-wading-sailing grounds being hit by tornadoes.

We only lost the Bimini top for the upper helm on the second boat. Many vessels were totaled at the Pensacola Yacht Club next door. Many were sailboats on the hill in the boat yard, which were tossed around and cracked up pretty good.

You can also find many photos at www.pnj.com, Pensacola News Journal.

What is the liability to you as far as the fuel dock is concerned?

Fuel dock was not hurt by the impact of debris from the boat.

Thanks Pirate,

However, it appears the Holiday Mansion will be a total loss, we are shopping now for a replacement.

I may take you up on it, as I now have no enjoyable reading to pass the time, since your story ended.

Here is a photo of it at the fuel dock right after the tornado played with it.

Ok BT, I think I've got it figured out now.

Get Ted and Zone man to go get a new boat, say somewhere around Paris Landing area on the Tennessee river. They can head up the Tennessee river, jump on  the Tenn Tom, down to the gulf and across to your kicking grounds. You bring several banana trees to plant along the route, sort of a mission cruise.  We'll get a couple of camera men to tag along filming it like all of those  other reality (Ha!) shows. We'll have a chase boat follow along and catch the action from a safe distance, as well, then we can sell it to someone to show on TV and we can make a fortune on the follow up shows.  I've got a friend in the business, he can do the filming and editing and it will be an adventure/comedy/discovery show with a little bit of America's funniest video flavor thrown in.
What do you think?

It sounds like a great time, especially since we have a cook volunteering, now all we need is a good insurance adjuster.
