Just returned from Merry Bobber. We dug out the outdrive from the dirt. The US Corps finally closed the lock. The water is slowly rising in the swamp. Boat will float by next weekend.
All battery banks are dead of course, but mo thievery or vandalism. Very proud of where we live.
Yippeee!

After I figure the water tank problem we plan on taking the ICW, west over to Orange, TX.. A tad over 200 miles. Quiet, safe, peaceful Sloooow miles!

Why the dead batteries "of course" ???

A couple solar panels would have kept 'em up, water or no water.

That is on the wish list near the top.
Actually, only the house batts were run down (maybe a light left on), the engine bank was still charged. A good tip for newbees, keep the start batteries strictly for starting.
.
We spent the morning working on her, all we need now is water.
I did learn that the sliding door WILL fall out if opened while laying at a list.  It almost flipped over the rail, but I caught it.

Ted655, I once had water in my engin room from a leaking boot, said water got deep enough to get into the starter. Removed starter and flushed with mineral spirits about 24 hours, cleaned it up and put it back in service. Used it successfully for about a month.

During our winter it was not used for about two and a half months. Starter was locked, rusted in bushing area of brush end.

Soooo, maybe you should have a spare starter along on your journey.

Just trying to help...
