Go ahead, start one! But bear in mind if you start a Gibson club the rest of us might not talk to you.

I think a lot of clubs are started by the builder or the developer or whatever to aid sales.

But you're ALREADY a member of the houseboat club, and maybe even the "vintage houseboat club". There was a houseboat flag (I have one, somewhere), and maybe T-shirts.

OK you invent one, and then you can visit and teach it to us!

hmmmm "trawlers" vs "houseboats".... which do you have the most of there on the Atchafalaya?

Thanks! Another pic for my "Redneck Yacht" collection!!

I think you made a good choice.... a trawler would be WAAAAAAY out of character!!!

Oh, yes! That's lovely. I especially like the washtub-on-the-wall, and the wringer, and best of all, I suspect it ain't just ornamental. Could save me a bunch of combo-washer/dryer-money, dollars better spent on beer. Looks as if it's not meant to go much beyond the bayou backwaters, though, with that extra-shallow draft.

My floating dock is almost that big; it wouldn't take much to build a "house" on it. Neighbors might whine, though!

Another good idea! That's the kind of pilothouse that might have a future on our houseboat to shelter the flying bridge, if himself gets tired of the sun beating down on his balding pate. It's conveniently collapsible for low-ish bridges and forecast strong winds, good extra bedroom for visiting grandkids- just need to decide how to sell its 'esthetics' to the guy in charge of boat design around here.

And Ted, be REAL careful which former Gulf Coast girl you offer a bowl of gumbo to-- She's liable to show up on your doorstep, if you don't watch out. (I once invited a new acquaintance home for lunch, which happened to be quite respectable, if leftover, home-made gumbo. The poor fellow, a midwesterner who ate shellfish with some trepidation and had never even seen okra up close, came back for second helpings, and then thirds-- and he's still putting his feet under my table more than 35 years later.)
