Guys,

Every year, there are several towns in South Louisiana that host an Annual Houseboat Christmas Parade. This parade is typically a light show of 30-50 houseboats decorated in Christmas Lights paraded through the night. This is a really big event for us on Belle River so  I am just wondering is this event just a "Louisiana Thing" or is there anything like this in others places?

Where ever the water is soft and there are houseboats, there are parades. We participated in the Christmas boat Parade of Lights for 13 years at Joe Wheeler Marina in Rogersville Alabama.

Around these parts they do christmas in july parades. The club I am a member of sponsers one every 4th of july in conjuction with the City of Aurora's Firecracker festival. There are realy bragging rights over winning the trophy for best in class(cruisers or Houseboats) and best of show.

Welcome aboard!!

We have one here in Pensacola also, but all boats.

The one in South Florida, Fort Lauderdale area, runs for three nights in a row, last time I was there. It is huge. They start south, and travel north on the ICW. Travleing a section per night, stop for the day and continue the next evening. There is even a barge with a circus on it from the Swap Shop. High wire acts and elephants performing as the boat parade travels past. Pretty impressive.

We lived in the Tampa FL area in the late 80s. There was a parade of decorated boats in Hillsborough Bay at Christmas and folks would line up along Bayshore Blvd to watch. Don't know if that continues today.

We even have 'em out here in California. Some of us even tow others that are motion impaired. Lots of great Christmas music.

Belle River is located in Pierre Part, LA about 14 miles North of Morgan City. Our parade is scheduled for December 15th. Usually we have many big Houseboats as well as a fewer small boats. Last  year we had I believe 33 houseboats. we expect a bigger crowd this year.

We traveled to our favorite lake to watch their Boats on Parade. The boats were beautiful all lit up and their horns a'blowing for the judges. There was a mixture of small boats to huge boats to sailboats.

This past Saturday night, Campo 5474 & others treated a huge crowd to a Christmas & fireworks parade down on Belle River, LA..
It was great, the boats were really decorated. Our pictures are not what they should be, but the memory's will last for a long time.
Thanks to the Belle River boaters & Merry Christmas to all!.

We are sorting through the pics and should be posting them soon. To tell you the truth it was quite scary with 30+ mph wind. The Cold Front came through about 30 minutes before leaving the dock. The Temperature dropped from about 75 to 45 in less than an hour. It was an adventure I will never forget as we had 83 people on board, 4 escort boats, a DJ, Shrimp and Crab Gumbo, lots of Hot Chocolate, and 168 Artillery Shells(fireworks).

At the end of the day all went well with no incidents to speak of.

As a result I am researching Thrusters. Does anyone have any experience with HyraNautic Thrusters?

We really enjoyed having Ted and Marybob and look forward to creating many more memories with them.

My ma ma didn't raise no fools
After seeing the front hit & counting the first 75 guests, we opted to stay on shore, keep warm in the bar & wave from the dock.
Hey! Someone had to get the wide shots, right. I was afraid I would get pushed in the closet & miss the whole thing.
Here is Campo's boat before it left the dock.
