Haha, one of the funniest ones Ive seen was the 'wasper.' Makes me laugh everytime I see it.
Weve been trying to get the name on ours changed but were having trouble finding someone that is willing to do it. Kinda funny when a sign company wont do something that they are in a business to do.

We're still thinking about this, as the houseboat-in-progress rocking at the dock behind our house, begins to look less like a plywood barge, and more like a brightly painted shantyboat. The neighbors all insist upon calling it The Ark, hoping it portends an end to our ongoing drought. The town weekly newspaper recently dubbed it in its front page headline, Magnificent Obsession. (must have been a very slow week for news.)
We're leaning toward "Leviathan", from Psalm 104, which says something like (depending on the translation)
How manifold are your works, O Lord.
There is the sea, great and wide
Teaming with creatures innumerable,
creatures both small and great.
There go the boats, to and fro
And there is that Leviathan
Which You have made for the sport of it.
(or, which you have made to amuse you, or which thou hast made to sport therein)
But other names also keep cropping up- "Le Chat-eau" brought agonized groans and wrinkled noses from all but the Cat-in-charge, who seemed to rather fancy it.
The "Amishman's Wife" was firmly nixed by the honorary-Amishman's wife herself, who was insulted by the broad-of-beam, but sturdy, if inelegant implication.
"Opus Magnum," with the famous cartoon penguin painted on, also got a big thumbs down, as did "Attilla the Home", unanimously. After the alarming election, one of us threatened to christen it the "Island of Sanity," stock the bilges with canned goods and ammo, and cast off before things get too scary, but that would mean missing out on grandbaby fixes, so that's probably right out.
So, suggestions are most welcome. Not that we'll pay the slightest heed, but who knows, you may garner an invitation to the shakedown cruise if you come up with the winning entry.

One of the prospective names for my boat was "Summer Place" (after the song)... or if a liveaboard "My Place". I ended up choosing "Retreat" which is similar. My first houseboat was the "Hideaway"; and with only 12" draft it could, too!

We went through several names and originally settled on "Its About Time", hence my screen name. The name had two meanings; 1) Its about time we got a houseboat because we have been talking about it forever. And 2) Its about time with the family, which was/is the reason for the boat. But when we actually bought the boat, it was not the name we chose.
I am in the metal casting business. Days in my occupation have always been hectic, although I must admit I wish it would get hectic again. We just bought a boat in August and re-named it "Casting Away". I should be pretty simple to get the double meaning there.
Other names considered:
Knot Working
Here A Loan
Knot Paid
Friends R Us (my kids contribution)
Rita Raft (Thought we might get boarded too often)
Beer Barge (same)
Free Beer (what you bring, not what I supply)
Love Boat (wife said no)
Catch Me (this is a practical name for when I bring my boat back into the slip)
-------------------------
Will change my name to Casting Away

Hey Robertipa, I saw your hailing port and boat type.
I got married in Osage Beach, in the same year as the boat you have was constructed. Have not been back since, but I remember "The Clown" floating restuarant with lareg Carp all around to feed. "Shooters 21" what night life.
We had our reception at Tantera and were married at the Lutheran Church that held drive up services (Drive in Movie style)
There was a very fun race car track there. The day after our wedding we were taking the Tux back to the rental store. We stopped for one round of racing. As my wife passed me on the left, she looked over her right shoulder laughing as she took the lead. She unknowingly pulled the steering wheel to the left and hit the wall head on, all while looking at me. I saw her go flying head first over the wall and onto the gravel. The wedding ring I placed on her finger less than 24 hours earlier gashed her hand requirring stiching. Her legs and arms were all cut up. I took and got her patched up, and then to the family-in-laws cabin for dinner.
Boy, you should have seen the look on her family's face when we walked in and she was bandaged from head to toe the morning after our first night of honey mooning.
The second and third nights of the honey moon were ------------- well you get the picture. We had all these plans to enjoy the area, but ended up renting a golf cart driving around watching everyone else.
Nice area you are in, I have been there twice, Land of the Magic Dragon. The last was my honeymoon.
Sorry, did not mean to disrail this thread, I just got caught up in memories.

Back to the thread:

Crack Money is the other he owns rental properties and is paying for the boat with money that was slipping threw the cracks. (told him the water patrol might look at that different he is 25 with a very nice curser)

First "real" boat was a 25' Searay named "Sun Chariot". We kept the name (still kinda like it).
Second boat, and first houseboat was a 14'X60' steel floater named "Allready Gone" hence my forum name. Named after the Eagles song of same name, but so many double meanings(as in "drunk and falling down", "too old", "left all the dock queens and out in a cove", etc.) I enjoyed it.
Third and probably the nicest we'll ever have, a 1998 16'X78' Sumerset. Named by first owner, fellow named Harry Owens who owned a trucking firm. H(arry) O(wens) T(rucking) with HOT-HOT-HOT as company name. Also the boat name. Second owner was an evangelest looking for an on the water Meeting House. His last name was Hotte,,,,,,,so, it was a sign from the Lord that this should be THE boat, and he proceeded to have it moved to Lake Of The Ozarks, huge PA speakers installed on all four corners, and made regular cruises to Lake OTO's "Party Cove" to rail against the sins of alcohol, fornication, etc. over the speaker system. Only thing I'm betting the Lord had to do with this boat was to keep her from being burnt to the waterline! Another fellow bought it and moved it to our lake, then sold it to us, still with 70 some-odd white stackable patio chairs!
Sold HOT-HOT-HOT in June and soon bought our present boat, a 34' SeaRay cruiser named "Lynne Rose". First boat we actively plan to change the name on. Probably to the band Government Mule's blues song "Soul Shine". Catch it On Utube. If you like hard rockin' blues and haven't heard the Mule, you're in for a pleasant suprise.

I named our 2-boats-ago boat "Frantically Relaxing" because when the weekends came around, we'd run around like wild monkeys getting everything ready so we could relax for the weekend, only to repeat it in reverse when we got home. That's one of the reasons we decided to buy a houseboat, no having to get ready to go boating if we live on the thing!
Our houseboat is named "Soft Wind", which is ironic since there's never a "soft" wind around here. We're going to change the name, but haven't found 'thee' name yet. Some names we've mulled over:
8th Heaven (everyone has a 7th heaven, we figure we'd go one better)
Big Baby (and name the Bayliner "Little Baby")
Blue Purr
Blu'natic Fringe
--and since I always seem to be a victim of "if anything can go wrong, it will":
Murphy's Lawft (If I name the boat after him, maybe he'll leave me alone?)
