We attended the HBS on Saturday and had a great deal of fun. We were looking for outdoor furniture and ideas for window treatments. We got some good furniture information and took several pictures (where allowed) of some very nice designs on windows. Dang.... I have another project!

Since we have not partied in a long time, we went to Ruth's Chris for dinner. Man, that was sooooo good.

I have to say that we were a little disappointed that the vendor attendance was down. We were all set to buy a new Summerset, but they were not there, so we bought something else. It may be that the economy kept some of the booths away, but if a houseboat manufacturer is going to select a show to attend, I would hope that they would select the industry that supports their existence.

I agree the vendors were not up to par with past shows, but considering the economic outlook I guess it was as good as could be expected.

I would have to agree with you on the vendor attendance. I think that the houseboat remodeling sector is very untapped there was a houseboat manufacture at the show that was selling some of his old lighting and I bought 10 led lights from him for my boat at a great deal. I would like to see these guys start selling there "dead inventory" at the shows it would help them and us (the ones who buy old and remodel) Gibson has started to sell there inventory on line but there is a lot of room for improvement. Why was summerset not at the show that was the one manufacture that I thought would be at the show?

It was my understanding that Summerset and Fantasy, and maybe others, went to a Louisville Boat Show two weeks earlier. It was too costly to go to both shows. That is why I think that these OEM's should support the show with the consumers that support them. You would think that would be a no-brainer.

Thats also what I heard. We were looking forward to seeing Stardust but they were at the earlier show. Wanted to see what their new boats looked like but o well...

First time we had been so we couldnt really be disappointed. I figured there would be more vendors but like everyone said, the economy has every one down.

Wasnt very impressed with the Sharpe boats given the price. Welds on the hull looked like junk and it was very curvy down the sides. Gel coat on the roof had thick and thin places with runs here and there..

I went as well on that Sunday. I was talking with the owner fo Pluckebaum and he stated taht Fantasy wasn't at the show becasue they were "moth balling" it this year. Don't know if there is any truth to that or not, but given the weakened economy I can see it happening.

I agree with everyone else about the poor vendor diversity. Not only that the Suntracker version of a houseboat was very poor quality. Does anyone else agree. I looked at the nivyl floor and couldn't help but notice the HUGE overlay at the seams. I don't know if they are new to the houseboat world, but if they aren't I don;t see how they have stuck around for so long.
