I know some boats have standard base 12v lamps inside; but regular 12v incandescents are power hogs, fluorescents and 12v LED's are hard to find and expensive. Well I found a site for standard "Edison" base, 12v compact fluorescents.
Like most fluorescents they draw 1/4 the power of incandescents and compared to the ones on the "marine" sites they're almost affordable. Better selection too.
Rated in watts, not "equivalent" watts, so a 13w would replace a 50w.
Choice of "color temp"; the lower the number the "warmer" the color.
I just replaced my deck lights with them. http://www.solarseasy.com/cfbulbs.html
