i recently purchased a 42 gibson and was wondering if anyone knew of a gibson owners club or forum. i've always had pontoon houseboats(playcraft, crest). this is a whole new ball game for me and at times makes the big vaine in your forehead thump. i just replaced the water tanks, one fuel tank, holding tank, toilet and now my engine hatch screws have pulled out. and yes i got a survey, evidently it wasnt a good one but thats in the past now and time to look forward.god, i love boating !! thanks everyone for any help

I have a gibson 37 sport and love it. Don't get me wrong, I've done a handful of repairs. I replaced one gas tank and that sucked. Gibson said I had to pull a motor. I yanked a manifold, distributor, and some brackets and squeezed it out. Now I'm replacing the fresh water tank ( bottom rotted out). Also upgraded to pss drippless shaft seals. Can't wait to see how those work.

Welcome to Gibson ownership. Not sure about any Gibson specific forums, but I think you will find more than enough information right hear. You've got those who owned them, own them, rented them out, and even a dealer who's sold them. Everything you mentioned above has been covered here, even down to the hatch screws just the other day. So I'd suggest just firing away with any questions.

i replaced a water tank in mine also. i called to get a tank price from gibson, they wanted 500$ for a 45 gl plastic tank. i had one built out of 1/8 aluminum like the original but i made it bigger for 600$. it pays to shop around.

I'm dropping mine in hopefully next week. I'll give you all and any details/ opinions on the drippless seals. They were NOT an easy install. Those shaft couplers are a mother f%&ker to get off!!! I'll walk you through how I did it when you want the info.

Second on the ronco plastics. Got my black tank from them prepped and ready to drop in, in just a few days. Price and selection were both great.

Hi
welcome to the forums the most active board in the country. I was a Gibson dealer, Carlcraft (same thing) Nautaline and Century. if you need any info do not hesitate to ask. I have a lot of info on 70s Gibsons and Nautalines. The hatchs tend to rot you can use golf tees with caulk to refasten the hatches. the tees will fill the hole the caulk will seal and you are in business. The fastener will have a new home. Your deck at the aft and forward part of the cabin tens to rot check for softness and seal if needed. Good luck

thanks pirate. my decks are very sturdy right now. the reason the deck screws pulled out was that the blocks on the front of my trailer settled and made the boat twisted on it and pulled them out, once i leveled the trailer again all was well. i will use your fix for re fastening the hinges. thanks again.......rick
