Does anybody know whether copper grounding plates are suitable for use on a steel-hulled boat? If so, how do you isolate the grounding plate electrically from the steel hull, as they seem to bolt directly through the hull?

Not sure they're even necessary, but if so I think I'd go with aluminum or such. Maybe just a big zinc.
