I am so confused at the moment, my head is pulsating. I have a 40 ft Kingscraft with twin 360's, v drives. Port engine was running rough and so I ended up replacing points and distributor cap. In the process I got the wires mixed up. Shouldn't be that big of deal, right? The port engine is the standard rotation side, firing order should be 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. But I wasn't sure which nipple on the cap was #1, so I checked the starboard engine side to find where #1 is. Here's where the confusion lies: assuming cylinder #1 is on the aft starboard side of the engine, the firing order for my starboard engine (reverse rotation) is 1-4-8-3-2-7-5-6! this makes no sense - the firing order of the reverse rotation engine should be opposite the standard engine: 1-2-7-5-6-3-4-8. But the starboard engine runs fine! What the hell is going on, either in my brain or the engine? I'm trying to get the boat ready for Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday...

any advice would be much appreciated!

Great link! Are you sure that is a reverse rotation engine? It used to be common, but more recently both engines turn the same way they just use gears to reverse the prop rotation.

Thanks for the link OHB. I've given up on it myself, and am having someone look at it today. I'll let you all know what he finds...
