Not this year, but in the past, I displayed 50 American Flags on my boat, with Uncle Sam on the bow top. (As seen in my avatar.)

Entered the local boat parade, and took first place with 20 souls on board. Then rode around the Pensacola Beach area, sounding the horns, so everyone else would as well.

Sure was fun making all that noise!!!

Until a couple of years ago they had boat parades around here, great fun, spent days lighting it up.

Definitely plan to be on board for the Fourth. Where, and what we'll be doing, hasn't be decided yet.

We are ALWAYS on our boat on the 4th. This year will be no exception. The difficult part is that the 4th is on a Wedesday this year; so do we go to the boat the weekend before and then come home on the 5th, or go up on the 4th and stay thru the following weekend. Easiest decision is to go up the weekend before the 4th and stay through the following weeken!!! Problem solved.

42 gibson, wipe that smile off your face and think about all of us poor working stiffs, trying to get where you are! Congratulations. Enjoy your retirement. You EARNED it. It takes a lot of years and hard work to get where you are.

Our houseboat, the perennial Work-in-Progress, will be tied up at the dock in our front yard on the evening of July 4th again this year... with a dozen or so teenagers likely laying claim to the place, while their parents and a hundred or more other grownups socialize on dry land, clustered around the pig-cooker and the beer cooler. We'll eat and drink (gently) until we can't swallow another bite of delicious carry-in offerings, then we'll each find a comfortable place somewhere, many on the top deck of the Lotus Eater, for the town's spectacular over-water fireworks show. By then, there'll probably be a hundred boats out there, their anchor lights a'twinkle. It's a really fun evening, even for the host and hostess. Any houseboat forum friends who happen to be in eastern NC that day are welcome to stop by. (I'm serious. Feel free to PM for directions.)

Sounds like some of you had some fun celebrations in the past. We are also looking for upcoming future plans for this fourth. Anybody else have any?

Thanks,

Jocelyn

Since we spend nearly every free minute on the SkipperLiner, AND we also have a great cruising boat and a killer motorhome to pull it with (see sig ), we try to get away from the houseboat on holidays and enjoy some different scenery!

I know we generally take in some fireworks ourselves. These were taken in Marietta, Oh.
