When you leave your local area on long trips, say - a week or longer, do you anchor out, beach or look for marinas?
Transient slip fees can get expensive after a while.
If you do anchor or beach your boat, can I assume your charts show water depths?
There is a difference between intentional and unintentional beaching. It's called running aground. Lord only knows how many times I have done that and it gets old after a while.

In the areas you're likely to want to anchor, the charted depths (if any) are going to be unreliable. It may have been 20 years or more since they were surveyed. A lot of the backwater have NEVER been surveyed for depth, just photographed from air or by satellite.

Areas used by commercial traffic are surveyed frequently, but you're not likely to want to anchor there.

Make sure your depth sounder is working well and you have good tide info. It's a bummer to anchor in a good spot and wake up sitting on the bottom (I'm sure you've already been there).
