Why I Love This Forum
1) No fussing or flat out battles between members.
2) No condescending attitudes.
3) Everyone one that I met on here are really great people - so far.
4) The technical education I received on here is invaluable.
I am on several forums and not all of them are boating related. This is the only forum where fighting, braggarts and blowhards don't exist. Everyone is accepted even boats in drag that just think they are houseboats.
This site is a really enjoyable place to kill some time.
Anyone else care to add to the list?

This is a "Safe" place. It was my first forum that I joined. Then when I joined others, and learned of bashing and derailing, and slamming, I was apalled at such activity.

I do remember something getting out of hand a few years ago. But Pirate put the hurtin on him, and made him walk the plank.

There are people all up and down the houseboat spectrum here - big, small, old, new, factory, homebuilt - even one guy with one that has a pointy front end - but everyone here shares a desire to be on their boat on the water. Like a big fraternity/sorority.

I have never seen a flame war here.

I've participated in quite a few forums over the years.........construction, trucks, boats, etc. This one by far has been the most informative, enjoyable, and certainly the most amicable. Good management=good business, I believe that is where a good bit of credit should be given here.

It is actually one of the big reasons I love boating and being in our marina too. There are boats from ones that barely float to big beautiful cruisers, houseboats etc. You can walk up and down the docks or around the buoys and the people are just nice people. You have no idea if you are talking to someone who makes $40K/yr or $400K or more. THere is no class system basically. Everyone has one thing in common and that is boating and being on the water.

Have always enjoyed that about boating. This place is basically the computerized version of a marina.

In the hard winds, coming in to dock, with slip neighbors wondering is this the one ?
Most boaters get pretty small, or at least a litttle humble.
Even with my challenging questions responders have yet to give up. I continue to try an reinvent the wheel.....and most on here will not be offenseive or shoot at me. Its a good go to site,

this is the only one i belong to. it has the nicest people, the tech help is awesome.like sinorswim said, everyone is equal and very friendly. we go on day trips in the car to tenn and ky to see different marinas. the only problem we have ever had is getting away from all the friendly people. its the same here ,you just dont get the chance to meet many others face to face.

I agree. I also am a member of 2 different forums for my 2 cars where I go to get advice on how to fix / modify random things. You really need to watch your Ps and Qs on those sites b/c there's always some hot head jack wad trying to show off and bully people around. Just plain stupid.

Someone made the analogy of this site to our boat dock neighbors - right on! My brother has a sailboat in NC on Lake Norman. He visited over Memorial Day and spent the weekend my my boat with us. He was amazed how how friendly and outgoing everyone on my dock is. Everyone drops what they're doing to help you dock your boat and is happy to steal 10 minutes of your time to chat. He said his marina is nothing like that. I believe it's a product of necessity b/c we all need help docking these behemoths.

I think there is so much variety in how our boats are put together, that we all need to become our own best mechanics. It is very difficult to find someone that can do type of work we seem to need, so we rely on ourselves and our neighbors to figure out and solve problems. I enjoy reading how the rest of you figure out what to do in different circumstances. Everyone seems to go through the same learning curve. The solution is usually simple, once you figure out what the problem is. I enjoy learning from you folks.

I love vacationing, cars and houseboating. We are fairly new to houseboating (3 years) this forum has helped me immensely. I even found a HB buddy here that is on the same lake as I am here in California. I belong to this forum and another one that is specific to the timeshare I own. Both are the same, good folks always willing to help others learn and enjoy the hobby. I love California but would really enjoy being on the Mississippi or some other river in the eastern US. I am a bit envious of the folks that have a dock right next to their house!! Love the forum and really appreciate all of you and your input.

We have never since OHB and I were running it for Morris Rozen who sold to HBM had hardly any problems. Maby two occasions and that was dealt with quickly. We have a great forum, the members are what make it that way. We have the best crew on the net. Thanks guys for your kind words.
