We've updated the software so we'll need everyone to re-register on the new forum. We'll give everyone some time to do this, but at some point we'll switch over to the new version of the Houseboat Forum. Don't worry, you'll still have full access to the old forum and the information that has been posted over the years. You just won't be able to post anything new once we switch everything over.

Also, we'll be able to update you post count as well as your start date for those interested. You'll just need to re-register on the new forum and then send us a quick email with your original start date and post count and we'll get it updated for you.

I know we've added a few extra steps, but the change will be worth it. Our current software is just very outdated and we feel this change will benefit everyyone in the long run. Thanks for your support.

Brady

Suggest new forum use existing forum address.

The other forum I moderate changed address and lost its place in Google. Now has 95% less participation

For what it's worth I agree with you entirely... But I'm aware that the forum sponsor has already taken the same route on another forum they administrate or own "Pontoon & Deckboat Forum". But due to circumstances before the change over there they had big previous problems that really didn't have really anything to due with the software itself it was more slanted "towards the members themselves". Anyway due to how that forum ended up butchered I can understand the desire to start out again with a clean slate... But it ain't the same issue here...

There's years of potential useful posts and information that will be more or less lost or neglected in the wasteland of a locked up former has been forum. But then again unlike other forums I'm familiar with that upgraded and transposed everything to the new software or forum maybe their is a real reason, I can't say or know so maybe we'll haft to move on. But it's going to take some time before google or the search engines have enough real material to index the new site where it will have any standing on searches utilized by the public concerning the "Search Engines".

Brady

The forum as it exists, is and has been one of the best on the net. The members have kept it "clean" and the information it contains is invaluable to many of the people that use it. From a users stand point, problems have been few and far between.

We, as members, have a fear that we will lose something in the transition. Most of us were unaware that there were any problems and were very happy with the status quo.

We pray that we are going down the right path.

OMG who designed the new site????? Looks like a child dabbling in VB web design. Seriously this forum should have been better prepared to make such a switch. It's not the forum that is broken....

I have been assured that the search address is the same and no posts will be lost. think positive and it will be fine.
They will make changes for the good after it gets going. Just hang on and we will see how the ship sails.

My questions is simple. WHY?

I participate in about a dozen forums on a regular basis. This one is one of the easiest to use and post in. The new one uses Vbulletin. There are several other boating forums that use Vbulletin, and it is probably the least user friendly forum format I have encountered.
