Does anybody work on these things? Most of the time, the display is blank, but sometimes it gives depths that just can't be true. Xducer and cable are good, 'cuz if I connect the head unit from the lower helm, it works fine. thanksalot

I'm guessing the problem is with the unit on the flybridge??? I'd suspect moisture in the unit. Try taking it into the house and opening it up for a few days so it can dry out. Maybe give it a shot with the admiral's blow dryer on LOW.

Thanks. It may have been moisture, but its been misbehaving for as long as I've had the boat. I'm afraid its too late to dry it out now.

Afraid their pretty much disposable. Best bet would be to find a local who tinkers (with a decent success ratio) with CB's,TV's, etc.

Before you throw it away, try sending it to the factory. I did this once with an old scentry fume detector (the old ones looked better than the new ones) and a new geek type there saw it and just HAD to fix something that old to see if he could! if was a diode and they charged me $25 including shipping.
