After attempting to repack the shaft pack nut, I discovered a bent shaft on my port engine.
It must have happened over a year ago when we ran a ground on Lake Texoma when lake was way down.
Port side prop was bent.
I had the marina pull the boat and fix/replace the props B.O.A.T. +,
I assumed the shaft was checked.
In hind sight I should have checked right after running a ground. newbe mistake.
Any way, having the boat pulled next month for a bottom job. Is pulling and replacing or repairing the shaft something I should do or have the marina do it?

The shaft has to be pulled and taken to a machine or driveshaft shop for straightening. Also consider a new shaft.

OHB is right. The correct multifunction tool for fixing a bent shaft is your credit card. If not too bad, a good shop can straighten one pretty well, but its more reliable and often cheaper to buy a new one.

Especially if the coupling end is not perfect.

I believe that you may be able to order the replacement shaft directly from Gibson. This way, you could have the shaft available when the boat is pulled to minimize the time out of water. Also, the price from Gibson was reasonable when I purchased one a few years ago.
