we got our furnace going Duo therm on 12 volt hook up & propane, so what I need to install now is a alarm for propane leaks, I used it all night and left the rear hatch open with a small fan running under neath, no headaches no odor. To be on the safe side, would like your suggestion on a detector.

not sure what style we will go with on new tanks, next spring sence we have a couple old 100lbers which will have to go and a couple small 40 lber's all are dated but full.

regarding propane which is all new to me, the gas as I understand seeks the lowest level, would that meanit would travel back under the floor to the bilage area, or it would just hover on the lower level under the floor, 58ft. alum hull Jamestowner, thanks, is it necessary to run a small fan under the full to push any leaks to the rear of the hull, or is the detector senistive enough to pick it up quickly

Probably the best place to get a propane detector is at the RV places, they usually have several types. I think they'll also detect gasoline vapors. They are VERY sensitive.

It does seek the lowest level but where it ends up is going to depend on the structure of the boat, breeze if any etc. You might want to install more than one. Mine is located in the cabinet under the stove, which also houses the water heater. I felt if I had a leak that's the FIRST place the gas would collect. However such things as roach spray will set it off. Annoying.

I'd be reluctant to install a fan, it could be a source of ignition.
