When I was winterizing the boat, I pumped rv antifreze into my macerator through the tubing off the stand pipe did it 3 times or 3 cycles.
is this advisable or is it too hard on the unit thanks, just a couple days ago so I can redo if u have a suggestion, my neighbor says this isnt the way to winterize the macerator refering to the chemical reaction my rv antifreeze
my macerator, was installed on a 1988 HB, has a crown head unit on top the macerator its-self is blue and what, i know this isnt the model # by far but if its something u reconize
Neighobor may be a macerator(IE--full of $hi+) While bacteria in your holding tank may not react well to antifreeze, they probably won't react well to freezing solid either. If full winterization is necessary, I can't imagine a better way than adding the old pink antifreeze. I'd certainly want some in the tanks themselves. Stuff CANNOT be as corrosive as urine.

as usal i didnt make it clear, it was more of a recomendation, that I shouldnt pump the rv antifreze into the macerator, perhaps I assumed it was hard on the macerator, my holding tank was just removed so I assumed he meant the rv antifreeze being in the macerator was a no no, so with these couple post it sounds like to me the rv antifreze wont hurt the macerator as its stored for the season thanks
The pink anti freeze contains an anti corrosive component which will protect almost all engine and plumbing parts. If you would like even better protection, find a MerCruiser dealer and see if he will sell you the Mercruiser anti freeze product (-100 degrees). Expensive but good.
