I've had two 8D batteries hooked into a 2500W system going into the sixth year with no problems. They will be replaced in the spring with the same type and size battery. I paid $150.00 each at a local farm implement dealer and I now consider I got a good deal. When on the hook, they will carry the boats load for ten hours at night and charge up when I run the genny for about three hours in the morning. Normal maintenance has been adding water in the spring, middle of season and fall, keeping posts clean and wiping the tops off with a dilute solution of baking powder. That's about all I can tell you but I would add that at the price for the AGM's, I sure could buy a lot of barley pop.

Maybe I should qualify my earlier post. In California we have lots of sunshine and my particular lake has NO shore power. My boat is set-up on SOLAR only and we have been out for 6 winter days/nights with no shortage of power, and in the summer months it is endless. That is why we have such a large battery bank. Stove/oven and refer are propane. We have a Honda 2000KW in case, but, haven't needed it for power yet.

Sailer you know how to get out of the snow. OHB has two houses. You can take one of his or I will sell you mine in Decatur. You can get the gold from OHB. I will never move again unless forced to.

No thanks on the flaky stuff. When I was young enough to ski, after careful thought, I chose water skiing because if I got into trouble I could simply 'Let Go' of the rope. I never could figure out how to let go of a MOUNTAIN.

I hear ya on the mountain thing. I tend to stay away from things that can break bones. Bad enough I have to shovel the stuff off the driveway and sidewalk. I think I could use a couple of female slaves to do that work for me along with the other house work they were put on earth to do.

Pirate -- Can you help me out with that request for help? I know that in your piratical wanderings, you must have picked up a few individuals to do your work for you, all I want is two or three. I can have OHB pay you out of one of his chests of booty. I'll just give him a bottle of cheap rum to grease the skids. I'll even try to get him to move your travelift and docks for you. How's that for a deal?

I believe if you can do that we have a deal. Still be easier to move down here. It will be in the 70s and lows in the 50s for the next seven days. Get your courage up Shellback and move on down. polywogs everywhere here.

Go ahead, rub it in. Davey Jones will get you in the end for abusing another Shellback. Lows below zero in the forcast, great fun. Everybody gets to see if they're car will start if left outside. Another bunch of snow coming this week end. Damn Pirate, your starting to make sense.

Hey Steamboat Willie,

You can make it around the bend, it just takes a good weather window, and bouncing in and out of Steinhatchee, Swannee, Crystal River and then to Carrabelle. We did it at 10 miles per hour in a Holiday on flat days. There are many flat days out there, and if it kicks up, just sit tight it will calm down again.

After that you are on the inside heading to Pensacola, then across Mobile Bay which can kick up, and then into Mobile River and up the Tenn Tom.

I think you would have a great time hanging out at the Pirates new place for a few years.

That was sorta my "plan".... make a beer/weather stop at just about every port I can get into... with 2-1/2 foot draft I can get into most of them (I think). My cruise is only 6k so I figured I'd leave early and plan on being there by about 1400 (those afternoon T-storms aren't fun). Once (if) I make Carabelle I figure I'm home free....

I am most confident you will make it to Carabelle, nice little fishing town to hang out in.

And yes all inside waters from there. As you near Destin the Lake to the north is big, but with a weather window no problem crossing it, as it can kick up, but there is a nice anchorage to the east in the ditch which is protected.

Steam Boat,

Hold the "Alt" key, type the digits 2, 4, and 8, then release the "Alt" key.

Look up the ASCII character set to find other characters that are not represented on the keyboard.

I copied and pasted the weather. Nice here. Poor Sailer must love all that cold as there is now no excuse to stay. Check every month and no job. Just sits with his Rum ration in the winter with nothing to do. Lets go Shellback, the polywogs are waiting. OHB does not have papers either. Be a lot of fun putting him thru

Finally got it!!!! I have to have the "numlock" key on, then hold down the "Fn" key, AND the "Alt" key and then type in the character code on the laptop "keypad" (not the regular numbers). It works: ° but it's hardly worth the effort!!!

Thanks again Mike, couldn't have figured it out without your help.

Now just hold on a sec there alreadygone. We done took over the south once before and we can sure do it again and teach you reb's how to run a boat. I think I can get OHB to finance such a venture out of petty cash or a buried chest. Heck, even Pirate might want a little of that action. Well then again, he does have something of a southern drawl so I'll count him out. Besides, he's as crooked as OHB.

Truth be known, if I could get the boss to get outta here, I would do it in a New York second. When you go outside and the hair in your nose freezes and your spit is solid by the time it hits the ground and the arthritis is killing you, you kinda figure man was not meant for this kind of thing.
