Haven't been around much lately, been messing about on firearm sites most of winter.

Now it's time for boating! Had carb professionally rebuild, and installed points/condenser myself last summer. 6.5 Onan runs great, starts easily, no smoke, or strong gassy exhaust smell. Haven't changed freshwater impeller, but flow seems really good.

PROBLEM; after a few hours of running it begins to put out thick, black soot deposits thru exhaust. Is this some sort of simple carb adjustment, or is my carb rebuild faulty??

Thanks,

Bob

Running rich from high speed jet too far open or not enough load. hoe many turns open is main jet. Make sure choke is fully open.

Put all the load you ever run at one time on the genny. turn main jet slowly until the genny starts to bog. back out till it runs smooth. Back out additional 1/4 turn.
