I recently had to replace the electric fuel pump on my Onan generator ( 6.5 KW). I started looking around and found this little generic low pressure jewel and it works great! A Mr. Gasket 42S from Advanced Auto. It was around 40 bucks compared to $170.00 for an Onan pump. This may have been posted but I haven't seen it.

Looks like a facet pump. http://www.yachtsupplydepot.co...-60106/prod_23458.html I tried these but on my 12.5 Onan and it gave me problems with priming. I switched to a different after market pump.

I did the same thing, but from O'reily's auto parts. Mounted externally. Worked great.

same here, x2. Most parts stores carry generic electric pumps, and I've found "marine ignition rated" on the labels too. Works for me...

deja vu? I have to replace my fuel pump on my 6.5 onan this weekend! Was looking at a facet pump. Did the Mr. Gasket pump mounting brackets match with the cylindrical pumps mounting holes - or did you mount elsewhere?

Here's a page of Airtex pumps...

Here's a Facet on Ebay, it's exactly like the one I just bought-- Had a different brand name, but it's the same pump. And it IS marine-ignition rated.

I have been using a Carter rotary vane design. Comes with mounting bracket. No problems with lift.

I was able to use one of the screw holes and it holds it fine. I seriously thought about mounting it externally as someone mentioned. A simple piece of angle aluminum would do the job fine.

Here is my setup. Stainless bracket to fit in the old pump holes. Toggle switch top right to prime the pump when when needed. And a fuel pressure gauge to take the guess work out of trouble shooting problems. The next modification will be to remove the factory rubber gas line and to replace it with Teflon braided stainless hose.

Sorry but I do NOT like all those unsupported galvanized fittings. I'd be afraid vibration would cause a crack in the threads and ensuing gas leak (BOOM!).

Stainless steel my man. Sealed with Leak Lock.

Stainless braided Teflon hose to absorb vibration. Pump is mounted on vibration pads. No problems for 8 years now and pretty much bullet proof. How many times have you had to replace your marine fuel hose during those eight years? Have you checked for rotted lines lately? Notice the elimination of the hose clamps on the braided line? The rubber fuel line in the pic will be done the same way. I have seen more engine fires with poorly maintained fuel lines.

Haven't had to replace any fuel hoses since I rebuilt the boat 11 years ago. Nothing in the secondary filter, either. Everything after the filter is steel tube.

I like the braided line and the associated connectors. I was just worried about all those elbows and nipples; I've seen pipe fittings break at the threads before. I think more of your braided hose would be safer.
