I am rebuilding the 1972 Searover house boat and I want to replace the glass in my window frames. What I am looking to do is split the frames and install a fixed glass. Has any one done this? I really want to put some smoke glass in the side windows and do not need them to open.

No answer for replacing glass, but I'm curious about smoked glass-- Is it to cut down on the heat of the sun? If so, there's always window tinting...

Our boat has screens over all the windows (which are quite dark). We removed the screens once for about a month. We really liked the different look, but the AC couldn't keep up with the heat! The screens REALLY help with cutting the sunlight! (and they're not that bad to look thru either)

Side windows probably OK. Do NOT put them in forward windows if you plan to run at night. You won't be able to see squat.
