My brother recently stayed on my boat for a weekend. I told him not to drink the water from the faucets and I even provide jugs of fresh water from the house. Well, after a long day of partying he began praying to the Porcelain God one evening. He ignored by advice and drank plenty of water from my holding tank. A day or so later, he said he needed an adult diaper at the rate he was running and thought it was the water from my boat. No one else has gotten sick, but I've never put any chemicals in the system to sanitize it. I flush it regularly with lots of water going through it every weekend. I don't leave it full for long periods either. Any way, it's due for a sanitizing. It's a sealed tank. How can I do this? Add bleach to the hose and pump into the tank?

i use "taste pure" in every fill up. it works great. you can get it at walmart for under 5$. you can add 5 or 6 capfulls to your hose. my brother bleached his plastic tanks and was forever getting the stench out. it will take out any odor you have after a couple fillups.

See this link Fresh Water System Commissioning & Sanitizing which is to the point and well written and the way I've always done it....

I did that also, but then added lemon juice after. I poured in one bottle to my 100 gallon holding tank.

I think I'll do that and add some Tequilla at the same time. That way, I can have margaritas right out of the faucet! My friends will be sooooo jealous......

The tough part will be getting all that crushed ice to go into the tank first. But this is your fantasy. Enjoy!
