I just replaced about 1200 in inverter batts an did not get the life span i expected,

And they were all matched agm maintence free, well vented along with a well vented inverter,
particular attention was paid to my connectors with 8 ought gauge stranded wire and connectors to match, the unit was on 24/7 ...... go figure 5 years

The idea has been around for years, I should think if actually worked on the lakes some enterprising soul would put together a "package" that could be installed on any lake boat.

However here in the Gulf of Mexico it would be a total waste of effort as the water temperature is apt to be 85-90 degrees. Houseboat waters are too shallow to find cold water.

I cant imagine a 12 volt fan forcing enough air over your A coil from the water your pumping through it to cool more than a closet..... but IM listening and you have my interest, I just cant figure how a 12 volt fan is going to do much?

My neighbor has built his own AC system, pumping water up some 30 feet, through a coil, with a 110 blower motor its nothing short of remarkable what he has done cooling his boat.
Now keep in mind using a 2000 watt Honda gen's that can run the frig, tv,
along w/ the 110 blower motor, at less than 55db, an are portable weighing under 50lbs which we manage and provide a certain amount of charge back to the batt bank.

Oh yea it cost less than 5$ a day in gas to operate these gens

Well, there IS more than one size of 12v fan, and the 120v blower motor in my A/C isn't all that big to start with. My hope was to get away without having to use a generator at all, though the 120v system would run on an inverter, and might be quieter. There is a lot better selection with 120v.

the Honda 2000, were designed for to run quiet, so much so they are allowed to run in the campgrounds after quiet hours, they use so little fuel, dependable, will take care of so many boat household products, in our area of hb-ing, you see boat after boat using the system....No more CO issues, no more gallon an hour fuel issues, DEPENDABILITY far exceeds most all 10 year old Mr. 12.5's,

cons: no central air/no ele stove, no rebuilding the invert. bank in 3-4 hours

Dale,
My inverter bank uses 4 gauge wiring.

I looked at my inverter system and then read about your inverter. I don't think you can just buy the controller and install it on your system because it's the whole setup that allows it to perform the way it does when charging and cutting off with low batteries. At any rate, my system is a Zantrex RC7. The "fuel gauge cutout" is set at 10.3 VDC.

Last spring I built a cooling unit out of a vehicle radiator with a box fan behind it, blowing air through the lake water-cooled radiator. I only ran it for a day before I unscrewed my hose fitting and it fell overboard, so I don't have much data as how well it cools. It did drop the temperature in the boat a few degrees, and it doesn't add any moisture like you would get from an evaporative cooler. I mounted the radiator in a wooden frame, and the fan sits behind it. Looks like a piece of furniture with a grill, and it is not noisy at all. I will try it again this summer, when I buy a new hose. Someone else had posted pictures of one they made a couple of years ago, and that's what I based my design on.

shore bound I have a question regarding the evaporative cooling system, what is the difference in the 2 systems why would the car raditior create less moisture in the air.
compared to the evap. cooler trying to understand the whole issue as i plan to install the
system w/ the evap cooler but u are the second person to mention to me the moisture issue thanks
