I have rather large front and side curtains on my crest houseboat they were left on during storage and there are dirt roads near they also have alittle mold on them. What products are safe for the clear plastic? can I just use regular glass gleaner?

Jason,

Glad to see you come aboard!!!!

Any of the common glass cleaners use ammonia which is a NONO for plastic. Best bet is to actually wash with lots, and lots and lots of soapy water and a soft bristle brush such as a detail shop uses on automotive finishes. Dip brush in bucket of soapy water and work into surface. Key is to dip more than you brush. The last thing you want to do is grind abrasives (on plastic even pollen is abrasive!) into plastic. After rinsing REPEATEDLY dry with terrycloth to avoid streaking. Unless mold is really entrenched it'll come off the same way. If it doesn't use WESTLEYS Bleache White (after testing small area). Never had Westleys harm anything but my skin!

This next bit of advice is what causes most folks to ignore my advice as coming from a "nut job" But It Works!!!! After plastic is clean and reasonably streak free, spray lightly with PLEDGE furniture polish!!! and buff with more terrycloth.
whatever active ingredient is, it renews and "clears" clear plastic to it's best possible condition. Use regular PLEDGE, not orange Pledge, improved Pledge, or any of the variants. If this sounds far fetched, try it on a small area first,,you'll be pleasantly suprised.

Best,

Bob

Be VERY careful with enclosure off that it doesn't get flattened or folded! Plastic will break at every fold. Best is to roll on old carpet or fabric center tubes. If not available swimming pool "NOODLES" like we all use when playing in the water work well.
