I just had my holding tank replaced. Prior to this my Crown
Head never held any water in the bowl. Now it is just like a
toilet at home. Is this normal or was there a problem
before?
They were able to increase the size of the tank to 42 gallons and
install a gauge. This is going to be really great when we have
guests down.
No explanation, unless plumbing was somehow re-routed. Generally, Crown Heads DO NOT retain water in the bowl between flushes. Retaining water in the bowl between flushes requires that a vented loop fitting be added external to the head, with the top of the loop fitting higher than the top of the toilet bowl.
Head Master, regarding retaining water, are you referring to the tolet bowl level of water in the tolet its self, RU saying there normally isnt any water in this viewable pART? Mine retains an amount just above the what I would refer to as the throat where it narrows down, my water level might be an inch above the throat.
All my intake is definitely below the tolet, I have a stand pipe below the bathroom floor on the hull of the boat and a 12 volt pump that brings that water up to the tolet.
not questioning you just trying to understand as much of this process as i can thanks
Raritan Crown Heads, in fact all Raritan heads and most others as well, DO NOT retain water in the bottom of the bowl between flushes. Certainly not like your toilet at home. It is all dependent upon how the toilet's external plumbing is run. If the discharge line from the toilet runs uphill, then sometimes you will see water in the bowl throat between flushes. If you have a raised vented loop that goes upward, higher than the top of the bowl, then down to your holding tank - then it will keep a goodly amount of water in the bowl between flushes. But in standard form, with the discharge line running down, all the water will either drain out or siphon out between flushes. The vented loop fitting (mentioned above) acts as a siphon break, and will insure that some water does stay in the bowl between flushes.
