Sorry to just be getting back to you. The MSD I wrote about was still on our houseboat until last weekend. I have now successfully removed the unit and installed twin 85 gal. stainless steel holding tanks with a Tri-L waste gauge. The new installation works great!
I didn't respond immediately to your question because I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get the MSD unit we had out of the boat without damage. I am happy to report it came out easily with no damage at all. We have also "cleaned" it. (As well as anything with you-know-what in it can be cleaned.)
It is a Type II MSD (The MSD) manufactured by Environmental Marine Inc. of Bronston, KY. The ID label identifies is as a model 1200 (12 person unit) manufactured in 2001, serial # 2048. The rough dimensions of the unit are 17" tall X 22" wide X *56" long. *The unit is made up of two tanks that when assembled make up the 56' length. (This "two" tank design is what made it easy for us to get it out of the hold on our boat. Our hatch size was 24" X 48", but it would have gone through a much smaller one.)
The unit is complete with the air compressor and clear plastic flexible hose (although you might want to replace it .... it is just a length of plastic tubing widely available), some of the treatment tablets for the last stage treatment tank, some of the recommended flushable dry packets of "microbes" recommended and packaged by the manufacturer (I know these are available in Jeffersonville, IN as I bought them there last year.) and the instruction manual.
You would need some PVC pipe and fittings all of which are available at your local hardware store.
The unit was in use and working fine to the day I shut it down and had it pumped so I could remove it. I have some pictures of it but can't figure out how to attach them to this email. If you send me your email address I can reply and attach them.
The company is still in business as I saw them at the Houseboat Expo show last weekend so I feel sure you could get advice on installation as well as any supplies that might be recommended for startup.
I believe the unit sells new for about $2000.00. I want $500.00. If you canmeet me at Dale Hollow Lake to pick it up there are no other charges. If I have to package it for shipment that will be another $175.00 and all shipping charges are the responsiblility of the buyer.
Let me know if you or your "someone" is interested. I'll be monitoring the forum for any reply or you can email me at ghuncilman@huncilman.com
We can't wait for warmer weather!

I don't want to be a "Nazi" and delete it...but I will ask that all

Being moderator is a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.

Sorry Ms. Moderator, I am new to this forum stuff and I didn't even think about that. I had logged Houseboat8972's question earlier in the thread about "What will you take for it." in my notes to reply to him and it was very late when I working on this and I just wasn't thinking clearly. I assume I should have replied with private message or listed this in the "Classifieds" forum. My appologies.

No apology needed. All of us start out online as newbies, even
me...though that was a
zillion years ago...even before Al Gore invented the internet or
before there was AOL.
Which prob'ly explains why I got the job of crossing guard here.
