Am guessing your old hose is beginning to let odor through? Hate to start you off with a negative, but----use ANYTHING but hard schedule 40 PVC, or the very highest grades of marine hose, and it'll get worse!
I carry a gun because it's too tiring carrying a cop.
LAMSSR -- You do not want to do that! Peggy, the sanitation guru, will insert the proper information here and it will not be all that cheap. The best flex hose will probably be in the 6 to 8 dollar a foot range but you will not have to go through the embarrassment of explaining that funny odor to your un-initiated friends. No more from me. She has the facts.
(stolen from a Peggie Hall posting from somewhere else): Almost all white hose IS flex PVC...the most common in the marine market is Shields #148. The only exception I know of is Trident 101...or maybe 102...they're both the same double walled rubber hose, just different colors...one of which is white. They're the only hose I recommend these days, since Aussie Globe's hose is no longer sold in the USA (that was the best ever!)
Every other white hose is some type of flexible PVC...and has been for decades. But all flex PVC hose is NOT created equal. Some has a tighter molecular structure--and therefore is more odor resistant...some--especially hot tub hose--has a very loose molecular structure that'll permeate in a heartbeat. So will MPI, SeaLand OTHER THAN "Odorsafe," Shields or Trident #148 (though not as fast as some others).
